Manali – how to plan and explore your trip

I am sure that the name Manali would definitely be on this list if one were to name the most visited tourist spots not only in Himachal Pradesh but in our entire country. It is one of the few places where tourism stays all year round. The number of people visiting in Manali increases or falls by months; however, tourists are always present in Manali in general.

I don’t speak of just a few people, but of enough people to keep the tourism sector here thriving year-round. Manali is a hot favorite destination for a large selection of people from a holiday family to a group of friends for some fun. Manali is so special in how it has something for travelers and tourists of all sorts.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re looking for adventure, party, shopping, amazing scenery, snow or lunch or just spend time in tranquility. You can pack your bags and go to Manali and never get deceived. I will discuss in this article how you can plan your trip here.

About Manali

Manali, frequently called the Queen of the Hills, is situated in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh, at an altitude of about 2050 meters. Surrounded by high peaks, the valley of the beautiful green Beas is full of beautiful natural beauty. Magnificent peaks of the snowcapped peak, thick forests, fruit trees, beautiful settlements, and wildflowers carpeted meadows make this a perfect honeymoon destination.

Manali has become so popular in recent years that in this small city there are over 1000 hotels and guesthouses. However, you may find it difficult to find a place to stay if you have gone here in the peak tourist season. It is probably the only hill resort in Manali where families from southern India will even be visited.

Reasons to visit Manali

It is a focal point for adventure activities such as skiing, paragliding, hiking, and rafting. In summer, people come to the plain to get away from the sparkling heats. The lush green of the hills invites tourists during the monsoon season. It’s the snow all around in winter and the hope of catching a live snowfall that takes people to pack their bags to Manali.

A visit to Hadimba Temple, Vashisth Bath, Van Vihar, and Manikaran Sahib is a great reason to visit Manali for spiritual types.

Attractions for adventurous junkies, paragliding, rafting, skiing, motorcycling, and many others. If you just wish to spend time in tranquility, the outskirts of Manali, Solang Valley, and the villages of Kothi are a safe haven. Mall road offers a host of restaurants for families to eat and shop.

But connectivity and security are an even greater reason than a long list of places to visit and activities to do. It is impossible to deny that you want to go to a safe place when you are out with your family.

Manali will then become the destination where you can safely bring your people and enjoy everyone in their fullness. being a tourist hub and always full of people. It is possible to call the road from Chandigarh to Manali smooth or not excellent. The roads are approximately 300 kilometers away but are still good. In Manali, mobile, telephones and the internet are excellent and you are always connected.

How to reach Manali

Manali is a well-connected city and it stays so all year round. Either by road, train or flight, you can reach here. You can travel here in your own vehicle, or you can access it by public transport, depending on your choice.

How to reach Manali by Road

If you were traveling by your own car or motorcycle, let us see the journey. I will assume that you came from Delhi in order to explain the road. However, the road to Chandigarh will still be the same, even if you were coming from another town.

Delhi – Panipat – Karnal – Kurukshetra – Ambala – Chandigarh – Rupnagar – Bilaspur – Sundar Nagar – Mandi – Bhuntar – Naggar – Manali

The whole journey will take approximately 540 kilometres to 12-14 hours. It is highly recommended that you get to Delhi early so you can get to Manali before darkness.

How to reach Manali by Bus

The easiest task is perhaps to find a bus for Manali. Regular HRTC buses from all major cities nearby to Manali, both luxurious and ordinary, are operated. Also on the route are several private tours and travel companies running their own buses. Luxury buses from and to Manali are also provided by the HPTDC.

A Bus from ISBT can be found if you were from Delhi. Private companies will have different bus pick-up points to check when you book a seat.

How to reach Manali by Flight

The nearest airport is Bhuntar, approximately 50 kilometers from Manali. Regular flights from both Delhi and Chandigarh to Bhuntar are provided by Air India, IndiGo and SpiceJet. You can board a taxi to your Manali hotel from the airport once you arrive here. Besides Bhuntar, it takes up to 6 to 8 hours to travel from Chandigarh Airport to Manali to get to the closest airport. Flights operate from Chandigarh to other cities nearly every major airline.

How to reach Manali by Train

The closest railway will be the narrow gauge up to Jogindernagar if you wish to reach here by train. It has a narrow-gauge connexion with Pathankot, as is the famous Shimla Kalka toy train.

However, Chandigarh would be the main nearby railway station. You should book a Chandigarh ticket and drive to Manali by bus, taxi, or train to get there if you wish to travel by train.
